Second $1 million lottery ticket sold at Eagle Lake store

An Eagle Lake resident claimed one of the top prizes in the scratch-off ticket game Million Dollar Loteria, according to a June 1 press release from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The winner chose to remain anonymous, but the ticket was purchased in Eagle Lake at the Time Maxx No. 3 gas station located at 500 E Main St across the street from Buc-ee’s. The retailer may be eligible for a $10,000 bonus or selling the ticket, thanks to the Texas Lottery’s Retailer Bonus Program.

The Citizen was unable to determine whether the store plans to claim the bonus before publication.

Lightning may not strike the same place twice, but lottery winnings do. According to the Texas Lottery website, another anonymous Eagle Lake resident won a $1 million top prize in the Texas Lottery $1,000,000 Crossword scratch-off game in May 2025. That winning ticket was also purchased at Time Maxx No. 3.

According to the TDLR, the overall odds of winning any prize in the game are one in 3.29, including break-even prizes. Eagle Lake’s newest millionaire is now one of six people in southeast Texas to claim a prize.

A person in League City claimed a prize of $7.5 million on May 8, a Sealy resident claimed $5 million on April 28, a Missouri City resident claimed a prize of $2 million on March 17, and people in Hempstead and Huffman have claimed a $1 million prize on March 11 and 23, respectively.
