The Weimar Coach Pitch 8u All-Star baseball and softball teams finish their seasons in the district tournament.
Both teams played great this season, but unfortunately, things came to an end in the district tournament.
Starting with the softball team, they came out to start the season strong with a 2-1 record through their first three games. They started the year with one loss to La Grange then followed that up with back-to-back wins against Burleson and Smithville.
The Weimar Coach Pitch softball team then faced Bellville and Columbus where they were handed back-to-back losses. In the final game against Columbus, the game came down to the final play.
Leading 14-13 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Columbus hit a single to get a runner on base. Then an inside the park home run brought home two runs for Columbus in the final inning to end the game with a score of 15-14.
As for the boys’ Coach Pitch team for Weimar, they unfortunately did not find a win this season. They lost to Grimes County twice, Washington County and Bellville this season.
Despite the loss, these boys played their hearts out and left it all out on the field this season and still found a way to have fun. Both the girls and the boys’ team represented Weimar perfectly this season.
They will find ways to learn from these losses this season and come back even stronger next season, looking for more wins.
