Sheriff’s Report
SUNDAY, MARCH 1
At approximately 7:25 a.m., deputy Blair was dispatched to the 1100 block of Business 71 in reference to a loose livestock. The owner was identified and provided proof of ownership. The case is cleared.
At approximately 10 p.m., deputy Smith conducted a traffic stop in the 4000 block of Highway 90 Alt in Altair. After further investigation, the driver, Brayden McCoy, 18, of La Grange, was arrested for an out-of-county warrant for Harassment. The case was cleared by an adult arrest.
MONDAY, MARCH 2
On Monday, Investigator Mican and deputy Weido were dispatched to the IH-10 Colorado River Bridge construction site in reference to a burglary of a building. Information was obtained from the Complainant and a report was generated. The case is active.
On Monday, deputy Chapa was dispatched to a public service in reference to an estray animal. Enough information was gathered to generate a report. Case information only.
TUESDAY, MARCH 3
At approximately 9:06 a.m., deputy Blair was dispatched to CR 2152 and CR 106, Rock Island, in reference to two loose horses. Case cleared by issuance of citation.
At approximately 9:08 a.m., deputy Schoppe was dispatched to the 1000 block of Dungens Mill Road, Columbus, in reference to credit card abuse and package theft. A report was completed.
At approximately 6:12 p.m., deputy Johnson was dispatched to 110 Shult Dr, Columbus Community Hospital, in reference to an animal bite call. After investigation a report was taken.
At approximately 7:10 p.m., deputy Villarreal was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at US 90A at Ramsey Road. Dispatch advised that the motor vehicle accident involved a deer and a 8 month old pregnant female passenger. Information only report.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., deputy Frey was dispatched to the 1000 block of Thousand Trails Lane, Columbus, in reference a disturbance. Upon further investigation, Killeen, Tx, native Robert Street, was arrested for Assault by Contact - Misdemeanor C. Street was transported to the Colorado County Jail and released to on-duty jail staff without further incident.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4
At approximately 8:45 a.m., deputy Machac responded to an abandoned vehicle at the intersection of Brushy Road and State Highway 71.
At approximately 11:04 a.m., deputy Machac conducted a traffic stop at the 1400 block of CR 2103. During this stop, Jonathan Blair and Robert Molina were arrested for possession of a controlled substance PG 1, less than 1 gram, tampering/fabricating physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance PG2.
At approximately 4:05 p.m., deputy Wiese was contacted by Vice-Principal of Rice Junior High, Lisa Hoelscher. Hoelscher advised him that as the students were getting on the buses, David Shropshire, made a threat towards her because he had his phone taken up earlier in the day.
THURSDAY, MARCH 5
At approximately 8:17 p.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to the 1400 block of FM 2437, Sheridan, in reference to shots fired. After further investigation, enough information was gathered to generate a report. Case active.
At approximately 10 p.m., deputy Smith conducted a traffic stop in the 4000 block of Highway 71 in Altair. After further investigation, the driver, Andrew Garcia, 36, of Alleyton, was arrested for driving while license invalid. The case was cleared by adult arrest.
FRIDAY, MARCH 6
At approximately 7:43 a.m., deputy Lopez arrived at the Columbus Community Hospital E.R in reference to mental transport. The patient was admitted to the designated facility for treatment.
At approximately 3:08 p.m., deputy Schoppe was dispatched to the 1100 block of CR 134, Columbus, in reference to a medical emergency. The patient was transported to the hospital and a report was completed.
MONDAY, MARCH 9 At approximately 9:00 a.m., deputy Machac was dispatched to a theft that occurred at the 2500 block of State Highway 71 West.
At approximately 11:12 a.m., deputy Machac responded to 1773 Highway 90 in reference to theft.
At approximately 12:33 p.m., deputy Lopez was performing a wellness check on an inmate in the jail. The inmate stated he was suicidal and was in need of a psychiatric hospital. The inmate was later transported to a psychiatric facility for treatment. A jail detainer was placed on the inmate. The facility will contact CCSO when the inmate’s treatment is completed so the inmate can be extradited back to jail.
At approximately 3:41 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to the 2000 block of Sandy Creek Road, Garwood, in reference to a structure fire.
At approximately 5:34 p.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to a public service in reference to a stolen vehicle. After further investigation, enough information was gathered to generate a case report. Case active.
At approximately 8 p.m., deputy Smith conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Highway 90A in Altair. After further investigation, the driver, Oscar Franco, 29, of Columbus, was arrested for driving while license invalid. The case was cleared by adult arrest.
TUESDAY, MARCH 10
At approximately 5 p.m., deputy Smith was dispatched to the 4000 block of IH-10 in Alleyton in reference to a theft. On arrival, he met with the complainant and obtained information to generate a report. The case is active.
At approximately 10:35 p.m., deputy Melendez was dispatched to the 2900 block of Highway 90 in unincorporated Weimar in reference to an aggravated assault. Information was gathered to generate a report. This case is still under investigation.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11
At approximately 6:57 a.m., deputy Schoppe was dispatched to Zimmerscheidt Road near Mentz Road, in reference to a bridge guardrail damage. A report was completed.
At approximately 10:40 a.m., deputy Schoppe was dispatched to a public service in reference to identity theft. A report was completed.
At approximately 1:10 p.m., deputy Chapa was dispatched to the 1000 block of Main St, Altair, in reference to an estray animal. On arrival, enough information was gathered to generate a report. Case information only.
THURSDAY, MARCH 12
At approximately 8:17 a.m., deputy Moulder was advised a complainant wanted to file a report of a vehicle stolen at the Houston Rodeo. Information only.
At approximately 1:03 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to the Colorado County Probation Office in reference to a wanted person. Mason Mcinnis was taken into custody for M.T.A burglary of habitation warranty issued by the 25th district court.
At approximately 5:37 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to a residence in Oakland, Tx, in reference to a possible missing person. The missing person was later located and it was determined that the person was mentally deteriorating. The person was admitted to a psychiatric facility for treatment.
FRIDAY, MARCH 13
At approximately 8:22 a.m., deputy Machac was dispatched to the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office lobby in reference to fraud.
At approximately 9:06 a.m., deputy Machac was dispatched to the 1200 block of FM 1890, Columbus, in reference to welfare concern. After investigation, the victim was airlifted to Houston, Tx, for further medical treatment. Case active.
SATURDAY, MARCH 14
At approximately 12:51 a.m., deputy Navarro conducted a traffic stop in the 4100 block of Hwy 71 South, Altair. After further investigation, the driver, Justin Johnson, of Garwood, 17, was arrested for driving under the influence - Misdemeanor C and Tristin Leal, of Garwood, 18, was arrested for public intoxication - Misdemeanor C. The case was cleared by arrests.
At approximately 3:20 p.m., deputy Gorman while patrolling the 1000 block of Old Hwy 90, Alleyton, initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. After further investigation, Wilkin Sermiento-Matute, 17, of Alleyton, Tx was arrested for fleeing police officer Misdemeanor B, resisting arrest search or transport - Misdemeanor A and possession of marijuana <2oz - Misdemeanor B. Case cleared by adult arrest.
MONDAY, MARCH 16
At approximately 5:31 a.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to a residence in New Ulm in reference to a mental subject calling 911. It was determined that the patient was mentally deteriorating. The patient was then admitted to a psychiatric hospital for treatment.
At approximately 1:35 p.m., deputy Chapa was dispatched to the 500 block of S Austin Road, Eagle Lake, in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, enough information was gathered to generate this report. Case active pending further investigation.
At approximately 2:09 p.m., deputy Chapa was dispatched to the area of 1000 block of Thousand Trail Lane, Columbus, in reference to a disturbance. Upon further investigation, Du Toit, Lilly Fair, age 34, of Conroe, Tx, was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon -2nd degree felony. Case cleared by adult arrest.
TUESDAY, MARCH 17
At approximately 1 a.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to Columbus Community Hospital in reference to a mental health transport. The patient was then transported to a psychiatric hospital for treatment.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18
At approximately 5:43 a.m., deputy Machac responded to the 1300 Lakeside Drive, Eagle Lake, in reference to a disturbance. After investigation, Siblena Cochran, 44, of Eagle Lake, was arrested for assault family violence with previous conviction - felony 3. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 7:42 a.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to the 1000 block of PVT 10 Road, Weimar, in reference to an unwanted subject. After investigation, James Decker, was arrested for criminal trespass of habitation - Misdemeanor A. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 10:19 a.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to CCH-ER in reference to a mental health transport. The patient was then admitted to a psychiatric facility for treatment.
THURSDAY, MARCH 19
At approximately 4:30 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to the jail in reference to an inmate experiencing a mental health crisis. The inmate was transported to a psychiatric hospital and was placed under a jail detainer. The facility will contact the Sheriff’s Office when the inmate’s treatment is completed so the inmate can be extradited back to CCSO jail.
