The Bluebonnet Master Gardeners, in conjunction with the Texas A& M AgriLife Extension team, hosted their 9th annual Kids’ Kamp at the Weimar Civic Center June 1618.

This camp features hands- on act ivit ies and crafts in gardening using resources provided by Texas A&M and the Master Gardeners themselves. Campers spent day one about soil and decomposers by Teresa Wilson and were able to get “hands on” finding their own bugs in the soil and making take home composters.

On day two, Mark Dan nemi l ler was joined by Texas A&M Water Ambassador Lily Haddox to demonstrate the power of water using a large stream trailer that can simulate rivers, floods, and erosion. The campers also used squirt guns to simulate rain and learn about how to read water gauges.

Guided by Dr. Randy Albers, the campers made their own potting soil, then grafted, cut and divided their plants to take home as their final project.

Everyday also included hands on crafts and themed snacks.
