Update on
Permanent Jury Exemptions in Colorado County
As part of the statewide voter registrat ion database change made by the Texas Secretary of State last year, Colorado County discovered that permanent jury exemptions did not transfer correctly into the new system. Our office is currently manually re- entering all permanent exemptions to ensure the records are accurate.
I f you receive a jury summons, even i f you previously signed a permanent exemption, do not ignore the summons. Please call the court clerk and let them know you have already filed a permanent exemption. They will verify your status and excuse you from that speci fic summons.
Remember: A jury summons appl ies only to that one court date. It does not automatically apply to future summonses.
If you qual ify for a permanent exempt ion but have not fi led one yet, you may receive a form in the mail. You do not have to sign or return it unless you want to claim the permanent exemption.
If you would like to file a permanent exempt ion, please contact the Colorado County Election Center at (979) 732-6860. We will mail you the correct form.
