Columbus landmarks may be featured in regional promotional film

COLUMBUS — Some of Columbus’ most recognizable historic landmarks may soon be showcased to a wider audience as part of a regional promotional film highlighting destinations across the Houston- Galveston area.

On Wednesday, Emmy Award-winning multimedia producer Wilfredo Mendoza of the Houston- Galveston Area Council visited Colorado County to film locations for a project featuring noteworthy sites throughout the council’s 13-county region.

During his visit, Mendoza stopped at two of Columbus’ historic landmarks — the 1886 Stafford Opera House and the 1836 Alley Log Cabin.

Local officials said they were honored to highlight the community’s historic sites and look forward to seeing Columbus included in the completed production.

The Houston-Galveston Area Council serves a 13-county region in Southeast Texas and promotes regional planning, economic development and tourism initiatives.
