LCRA attended a standing room only Columbus City Council meeting to answer questions about the water project and partnership with the San Antonio Water System.
Columbus ISD approved a teacher pay scale designed to help keep experienced teachers in the district.
The movie The Windsplitter made in Columbus in 1070, made its way to DVD.
50 YEARS AGO
July 8, 1976
Relief pharmacist Ivar Heggen was on his way to Columbus when he picked up two hitch hikers on I-10 near Katy. A couple of hours later one hitchhiker was dead and the other seriously wounded. Heggen reported that the two men tried to kidnap him after he picked them up.
Two Columbus girls, Patti Stallman and Shirley Ann Kiel, competed with nine other girls for the title of 1976 Colorado County Farm Bureau queen. The contest was at the Eagle Lake Community Center.
St. Phillip Catholic Church in El Campo was the setting for the nuptial mass for Miss Robin Engstrom and Russell Thomas June 26.
Miss Polly Windham, daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Marshall T. Windham of Columbus, and Mark Barten, son of Mr. And Mrs. R.O. Barten, also of Columbus, were married June 25 in St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Palmer officiating.
