Newcomer Tresmond McMillian was sworn in as Weimar’s newest alderman during a special meeting Tuesday, June 30.

McMillian was appointed to fill the unexpired Place 3 term formerly held by Ronell Wilson. Last month, Wilson announced he would be stepping down from the council, citing health concerns.

Weimar resident Tara Dilley also expressed interest in filling the vacant seat. Mayor Carlton Tucker thanked both applicants for their willingness to serve the community.

After hearing from McMillian and Dilley, the council voted unanimously to appoint McMillian.

Water storage tank

Public Works Director Michael Beyette updated the council on bids for repairs to the city’s 200,000-gallon ground storage tank at Water Plant No. 3.

Beyette said the tank itself cannot be covered under warranty because it is not built on a concrete foundation. The potential for shifting makes the structure ineligible for a warranty.

However, STW Consultants LLC of Needville is able to provide a warranty on the tank’s new paint system. Beyette recommended awarding the bid to STW, noting the company has completed previous tank inspections for the city and is familiar with Weimar’s water system.

The repairs stem from a February 2026 violation issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality involving the storage tank. Although the city is not under a specific deadline to complete the work, officials agreed the repairs should be made as soon as practical.

Beyette said STW could begin work within a month of the bid award. The council unanimously approved the company’s $23,395 bid.

In other action, the council:

Approved a proclamation designating Weimar as a Purple Heart City in conjunction with the city’s Fourth of July festivities commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Approved renewal of the SCADA support plan and ADMS Silver Support Agreement for the period of July 21, 2026, through July 20, 2027.
