The Weimar Vets hosted the Serbin Jackrabbits at Strickland Field on June 28.
Two big innings by Serbin — the first and fifth — proved to be the difference as the Jackrabbits claimed a 14-3 victory.
Defensive standouts for the Vets included Ryan Rerich, Connor Gesler and Camden Morrison, while Brett Janacek did yeoman’s work behind the plate.
Offensive leaders were Gesler with a double, single and two RBIs; Kannyn Goehring with two hits, an RBI and a run scored; Rerich with a double, a hit by pitch and a run scored; Emerson Harvey with a single, a hit by pitch and a run scored; Mo Pavlik with a single; and Seth Janecka with a base hit.
Janecka pitched the final two innings, allowing no runs while striking out two batters and giving up just two baserunners.
The Vets thanked Preston Langhoff for announcing and operating the scoreboard, along with fans for their continued support. They also recognized Tom Strickland and the concession stand crew for their work during the game.
