Rice Little League eliminated at state tournament

The Rice Junior All-Star traveled to Rosenberg on Saturday, July 11 to compete in the state Little League softball tournament.

Rice was looking to punch their ticket to the regional tournament but unfortunately, they were eliminated from the state tournament after two games.

In game one, Shiner shut the Rice girls out 110. Shiner jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and then scored one run in the second and third to make the score 4-0.

Shiner went on to score seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, arriving at the final score of 11-0.

In game two against Jasper, the score was much closer. Rice opened the scoring with two runs in the first inning. They carried that 2-0 lead up to the third inning where they extended their lead by two runs.

Jasper scored their first run of the game in the fifth inning, but Rice responded by scoring three runs in the fifth to make the score 7-1. In the sixth inning though, Jasper came back and scored eight runs to win the game with a final score of 9-7.

This loss ended the Rice Junior All-Stars season, but with most of the roster returning next season, they will be poised for another tournament appearance.
