Back-to-School Shoe Event for RCISD 

Saturday, July 18 | 9 a.m. – noon | Wharton Elementary School Gym, 2030 E Boling Hwy | Wharton Sole Loved, in partnership with Communities In Schools of Southeast Harris and Brazoria County, will host a Back-to-School Shoe Event for students in several area school districts, including Rice CISD. Eagle Lake Backpack Drive 

Saturday, July 18 | 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. | Eagle Lake Chamber of Commerce, 303 E Main St | Eagle Lake Operation Backpack will distribute free backpacks while supplies last. Visitors can enjoy music, food and more. Donations are still being accepted. Call Joe Romo at (832) 687-1901 for more information.

Santa’s Summer Vacation 

Saturday, July 25 | 4–6 p.m. | Hound Song Brewing Co., 535 Walnut St | Columbus The Columbus Historical Preservation Trust (CHPT) and the Santa Claus Museum invite you and your family to kick off the holiday season early! Blessing of the Backpacks 

Sunday, Aug. 2 | 10 a.m. | First United Methodist Church, 1229 Milam St | Columbus The new school year is approaching, and members of the congregation have written special notes of encouragement to supply students with love, faith, kindness and confidence for the year ahead. Pastor Sunshine will also pray over the students and their backpacks
