The League of Women Voters of South Central Texas will host a Day of Action to empower voters and celebrate the anniversary of the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 on Aug. 8.
The nonprofit will help voters check their registration status, provide information on voter ID cards, share a local voters guide with specific ballot details and more.
Adults can pract ice voting on a real machine with Colorado County Elections Administrator Rebecka LaCourse. Meanwhile, children can learn about civic engagement by voting for their favorite Texas animal.
The Saturday event wil l run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Nesbitt Memorial Library, 529 Washington St., Columbus. This will be one of four Day of Action events in the area for LWV’s nationwide Unite and Rise for Voting Rights initiative for the anniversary.
