Sloan Harris and Duke Leyendecker recently achieved the Nesbitt Memorial Library’s “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” award for their reading prowess.
The program encourages parents to read to their children from birth to five years old to teach pre-reading ski l ls l ike letter sounds, large vocabulary and foundational knowledge of the world. Registration is free, and progress is tracked by paper log or app.
