First United Methodist Church welcomes students of all ages and their families to bring their backpacks to receive free school supplies at “Blessing of the Backpacks” at the 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Aug. 2.
“Backpacks symbolize the burdens students carry on their hearts—heavy, invisible loads of academic and social pressures,” the church posted. “The new school year is approaching, and members of the congregation have written special notes of encouragement to supply students with love, faith, kindness, and confidence for the year ahead.”
Pastor Sunshine Reyes wi l l also pray over the students and their backpacks. The church is located at 1229 Milam St. in Columbus
