Former Columbus High School track standout J.R. Pulido was named Interim Athletic Director for the University of Incarnate Word.
Pulido was selected as the Columbus High School Athlete of the Year as a senior in 2003 after setting school records in the 3200m with a time of 9:40 and the 5k with a time of 15:57 and was selected twice as All-State and Tri-County Runner of the Year.
He was also a fourtime letterman in track a nd cross- cou nt r y while at Columbus High School. After leaving Columbus, Pulido received a full ride scholarship to Texas A&M Corpus Christi where he majored in kinesiology.
Pulido went on to have a great career running for the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders where he held the top times in the 3000m and the 5000m runs and the second fastest time in the 5000m and the 10000m races.
Pulido is a Cardinal once again in his new role at UIW.
