EAGLE LAKE — Nearly 50 children participated in the inaugural Camp Good Ground youth camp July 24-26 at Memorial Park in Eagle Lake.
Organized by Paula Richardson and her children, Dasia Richardson and Jeremiah Paige, the three-day camp combined outdoor activities with faith-based lessons designed to encourage spiritual growth and strengthen friendships.
Campers took part in sound mapping, obstacle courses, horticulture, arts and crafts, with each activity centered around a life lesson. Snacks and daily lunches were provided through donations from local families and businesses.
“Youth Camp was an unforgettable experience that encouraged spiritual growth, strengthened friendships, and inspired young people to pursue a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ,” the Richardson family said following the camp’s conclusion. “We believe the seeds planted during this time will continue to bear fruit as participants return home equipped to live out their faith with confidence and purpose.”
The family said it hopes to continue the ministry with future youth camps.
Sanaa Wright was recognized as Camp Good Ground’s inaugural Most Valuable Camper and became the first name added to the camp’s Wall of Fame.
“Sanaa kept a smile on her face and shined the brightest at camp this year,” Paula Richardson said. “We have no doubt that she will go on to make Camp Good Ground and this town very proud.”
The weekend concluded with a pool party at the Eagle Lake city pool, provided free to campers through community donations.
“I’m so grateful to God for the vision and bringing it to life,” Richardson said. “I’m exhausted, but God is exalted.”
