COLUMBUS β The Columbus Volunteer Fire Department cleaned up a diesel spill from an overfilled transport truck at Brookshire Brothers on Wednesday, July 29.
Firefighters used Micro- Blaze, a microbial remediation formula, to break down the diesel fuel in the parking lot before flushing the area with water and applying additional Micro- Blaze to a nearby storm drain.
The scene was cleared and declared safe within 20 minutes.
Fire Chief Richard La-Course said witnesses reported the truck driver pressed the emergency stop button after realizing the truck had been overfilled.
βHe pulled the hose out, and it acts like a geyser, and it flows all over the place,β LaCourse said.
LaCourse said action will be taken against the transport company, Texas Transeastern.
