Wildcats football returns for the season

The Weimar Wildcats went back to work this week to prepare for the 2026-27 season.

They have been getting on the field as early as 6:30 a.m., and used the first week of practice to make sure all players know their roles within the offense, defense, and special teams’ units. They took time to break off into position groups and go over a few basic things and then came together for the team session of practice.

During the team session, the coaches were able to evaluate their team and see where guys fit before the season starts at the end of the month. The Wildcats graduated several senior players, so this evaluation period is beneficial to the coaching staff.

It is also good for the players because this week allows them to just get on the field and play, and connect with their teammates. It is also good for the players because this week allows them to just get on the field and play, and connect with their teammates.

While the practices have been fun for the players, they have been sharp throughout these early season practices. The Wildcats are playing with a high level of intensity and physicality with an emphasis on execution. They want to make another trip to the playoffs this year, and know that good execution on both sides of the ball will be the driving force to help get them there.

The Wildcats will open their season on the road in Boling with the kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
