SBA disaster loan deadline set for Aug. 31

Eligible small businesses and private nonprofit organizations in Austin, Colorado and surrounding counties have until Aug. 31 to apply for federal economic injury disaster loans related to drought conditions that began Nov. 4, 2025.

The U.S. Small Business Administration loans are available to eligible small businesses, private nonprofit and faith-based organizations, small agricultural cooperatives and nurseries, and small aquaculture enterprises. The loans provide working capital to help cover operating expenses affected by the drought.

Eligible counties include Austin, Colorado, Fayette, Fort Bend, Waller, Washington, and Wharton counties.

Loans of up to $2 million are available, with interest rates as low as 4% for small businesses and 3.625% for private nonprofit organizations. Terms may extend up to 30 years, with no interest or required payments during the first 12 months following disbursement.

The deadline for applying for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan is Aug. 31. Applications may be submitted through the SBA disaster assistance website. Applicants with questions may call the SBA Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955.
