Daughters, Sons of American Revoluton recognize July flag display

The John Everett Chapter (DAR) Daughters of the American Revolution and the Robert Rankin Chapter (SAR) Sons of the American Revolution recognized Richard and Gail Heffley for their patriotism and for proudly displaying the American Flag in July, especially during the celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary.

To commemorate the nation’s anniversary, the Heffley’s raised a new flag featuring the American eagle this year. The Heffley’s have long displayed a flag in their yard—first on the front of their home then eventually on a flagpole installed by Richard.

Richard Heffley has a long history of public service, which the DAR shared. He served in the United States military, including service at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington. Following his military career, he continued serving his community for 25 years as a Columbus City Council member and later as Mayor of Columbus. Gail Heffley dedicated her career to caring for others as a registered nurse at Columbus Hospital, where she faithfully served countless patients and families throughout the community.

A little league coach, Richard always told his team to remember their priorities: God, family and country. The DAR said their family’s generations of service reflect a deep commitment to both country and community.
