COLUMBUS — Known for journeying throughout Columbus and Alleyton in his wheelchair, Darrell Ford, 60, died in the early hours of Aug. 2 following an incident with a freightliner.
According to the Department of Public Safety, a 2018 FedEx freightliner traveling eastbound on U.S. 90 near Old U.S. 90 struck Ford who was in the roadway. Ford succumbed to his injuries after being transported to Memorial Hermann in downtown Houston.
Ford’s niece, Davinia Pittman, launched a Go-FundMe for Ford’s memorial and funeral expenses. The Citizen was unable to reach Pittman for more information about Ford.
