Ladycats battle to 1-2 start

The Weimar Ladycats posted a 1-2 record through their first three matches of the 2026 season, including a five-set battle with La Grange and their first victory against Hallettsville.

Weimar opened the season on the road against La Grange, where all five sets were needed to decide the match.

The Ladycats started strong with a 25-13 victory in the opening set before La Grange answered with a 25-13 win in the second. La Grange took the third set 25-20 to put Weimar’s back against the wall.

The Ladycats responded in the fourth, outlasting La Grange 25-22 to force a deciding fifth set.

The finale remained close, but La Grange edged Weimar 15-12 to hand the Ladycats their first loss of the season.

Weimar then traveled to Columbus High School to compete in the Kecia Davis Memorial Tournament, where matches were played in a best-of-three format.

The Ladycats opened tournament play against Round Top-Carmine, falling in straight sets 25-20 and 25-23.

The Ladycats will return to action Thursday, Aug. 20, at the Schulenburg Varsity Tournament.
