New Senior Safety Solutions Business Helps Older

Adults Age Safely at Home

As Colorado County’s population continues to age, the need for reliable home maintenance and safety modifications has never been greater. More than one in four Colorado County residents is age 65 or older—a percentage significantly higher than the national average. For many families, remaining at home is the goal, but ensuring that home remains safe, functional, and accessible can become increasingly challenging.

Recognizing that growing need, Larry and Tonja Binford have launched Senior Safety Solutions, a locally owned business dedicated to helping older adults live safely, comfortably, and independently in the homes they love.

Many residents already know Tonja Binford, formerly Tonja Moon, as the founder of The Grand Baby Project, the nationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people living with dementia and supporting their caregivers. Through years of education, community outreach, caregiver support, and dementia advocacy, she has worked alongside thousands of families facing the challenges of aging and memory loss.

“It became clear that many families wanted to keep their loved ones at home, but they simply didn’t know how to make those homes safer or where to turn for help,” Binford said. “Senior Safety Solutions was created to fill that need by combining practical home maintenance and modifications with an understanding of how aging impacts the way people live in their homes.”

The company provides all types of home maintenance, repai rs, and modi fications for seniors, including electrical work, accessibility improvements, grab bars, handrails, ramps, lighting upgrades, home repairs, preventative maintenance, and customized safety modifications and offering a Veterans discount.

While the company’s expertise includes creating dementia-friendly living environments, Senior Safety Solutions serves all older adults, regardless of whether they are living with dementia.

“Our dementia expert ise is what makes us unique, but it isn’t all we do,” Binford explained. “Every senior deserves a safe, well-maintained home. Whether someone needs routine repairs, preventative maintenance, accessibility improvements, or specialized modifications, we’re here to help them remain independent and continue enjoying the place they call home.”

The partnership brings together decades of complementary experience. Larry Binford contributes more than 30 years as a licensed electrician and general contractor with extensive residential and commercial construction expertise. Tonja Binford brings more than three decades of experience serving older adults through geriatric care, hospice, dementia education, and caregiver advocacy.

Together, they are able to evaluate both the structural needs of a home and the changing needs of the person living in it—a combination that sets Senior Safety Solutions apart from traditional handyman or remodeling services.

Serving Colorado County and surrounding communities, Senior Safety Solutions is committed to helping older adults age in place with dignity, confidence, and peace of mind by providing trusted home maintenance, thoughtful modifications, and personalized safety solutions for every stage of aging.
