Area schools receive A, B and C ratings from TEA

Area school districts received overall ratings ranging from A to C in the latest Texas Education Agency accountability results, with Weimar ISD earning the highest rating among the three districts. The accompanying tables provide a breakdown of district and individual campus scores and comparisons with previous accountability results.

Weimar ISD

Weimar ISD received an A with an overall score of 91, while Columbus ISD earned a B with a score of 81 and Rice Consolidated ISD received a C with a score of 73.

Individual campus results showed a mixture of improvement, stabi lity, and decline across the three districts.

Weimar ISD posted some of the area’s strongest results, with Weimar High School earning an A with a score of 95 and Weimar Junior High earning an A with a 91. Weimar Junior High improved from a B and score of 86 the previous year. Weimar Elementary remained a B-rated campus with a score of 86.

Columbus ISD remained a B-rated district with an overall score of 81. Columbus High School and Columbus Crossing High School both received B ratings, while Columbus Junior High and Columbus Elementary received C ratings. Columbus Elementary declined from a B with a score of 81 to a C with a score of 78.

Rice CISD

Rice CISD’s results included some significant movement in both directions.

Rice Junior High recorded one of the district’s largest gains, improving from an F with a score of 55 to a C with a score of 73 after two consecutive years with an F rating.

Eagle Lake Intermediate moved in the opposite direction, declining from a B with a score of 81 to a D with a score of 62.

Elsewhere in Rice CISD, Rice High School earned a B with a score of 82, Sheridan Elementary received a B with an 84 and Garwood Elementary earned a B with an 87. Eagle Lake Primary School and Rice Challenge Academy were not rated.
