COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICTS EARN SUPERIOR RATINGS IN FINANCIAL INTEGRITY
Colorado County school districts are all operating with good financial integrity, according to the state’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST).
According to the Texas Education Agency’s website, FIRST “ensures that Texas public schools are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and that they improve these practices. The system is designed to encourage Texas public schools to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes.”
Columbus ISD, Rice CISD and Weimar ISD all earned “A” ratings with Superior Achievement with the system.

ENTRIES OPEN FOR YOUTH RECYCLED ART SHOW
Keep Columbus Beautiful will be accepting entries through Sept. 23 for youth grades first through eighth grade for its Youth Recycled Art Show to be displayed Oct. 1–17.
The show’s three categories are posters, recycled sculptures and canvas art. Students may submit a maximum of three entries, one for each category. Entry is free.
Keep Columbus Beautiful will pick up art from the submitter’s school or organization and deliver it to the Live Oak Art Center for judging and installation. Homeschool students are welcome.

AFTER_SCHOOL ART CLASSES IN WEIMAR, FAYETTEVILLE OPEN REGISTRATION
Arts for Rual Texas has opened its fall registration for its free after-school art classes for students in first grade all the way up to 12th grade to explore painting, drawing, photography, quilting, pottery and much more.
The classes will be held weekly in Fayettevi l le, Flatonia, La Grange, Moulton, Navasota, Round Top, Schulenburg, Smithville, Waelder and Weimar.
Weimar classes are held at Weimar Elementary School at 515 W Main St., Weimar, and St. Michael Catholic School at 103 E North St., Weimar.
Fayetteville classes are held at the Schmid ARTS Annex at 105 E Main St., Fayetteville.
