Colorado County Habitat for Humanity receives $100k grant from Texas Veterans Commission

The Texas Veterans Commission awarded $6.3 million in grants to 27 Southeast Texas and Gulf Coast region organizations this week, including $100,000 to Colorado County Habitat for Humanity for Housing Texas Heroes home modifications.

The Housing Texas Heroes program supports beneficiary-owned housing modifications for low-income veterans and surviving spouses. Modi fications include disability accessibility, critical home repairs, home weatherization, and more.

TVC estimates that 4,808 veterans will benefit from the total.

Funding for the grants is generated primarily by the Texas Lottery’s games designated for veteran support. People can also donate when registering their vehicles or when getting a hunting or fishing license.
