The Texas A&M Forest Service awarded a Rock Island VFD a $265,000 grant toward the purchase of a new large brush truck. The new truck will cost approximately $291,900, with the grant covering the majority of the expense. The Rock Island VFD credited proceeds from its bingo fundraisers with helping provide additional funding for new equipment. The department thanked the Texas A&M Forest Service as well as community members who support its bingo games and other fundraising efforts.
