Visiting Christian author encourages readers to find hope, God

BELLVILLE — Christian inspiration romance author Mindy Obenhaus said she wants readers to find hope and trust in God after reading her recent release, “A Texas Easter Blessing.” Obenhaus will visit with readers, answer questions and sign copies of her book, Tuesday, Sept. 15, at The Story Peddler bookstore.

Obenhaus is a Texas-based bestselling author published by Love Inspired, the Christian imprint of Harlequin Romance. She said “A Texas Easter Blessing” stands out amongst her others because of the faith of its woman main character Kendall Hunt whose career as a professional chef had been stripped from her due to scandal.

“I liked her faith. I liked that she did not let the mishaps of life get her down. She was determined that she was going to push through it…even if she didn’t know how things were going to turn out and where she was going to end up,” Obenhaus said.

Obenhaus said she writes uplifting stories of hope during “a whole lot of unhappiness in this world” to make people smile. She wants to readers to know that “we are not alone in this world.”

“We don’t have to carry all our burdens by ourselves. We’re really good at doing that,” Obenhaus said. “…There is somebody that we can lean on to help us get through difficult times, meaning God, of course.”

Obenhaus said she draws inspiration for Kendall Hunt and her characters from her five children, especially her three daughters who have had life different experiences despite the same upbringing. Similarly, Obenhaus said Kendall Hunt is markedly different from her sisters who star in the first two books of the Legacy Ranch series.

Obenhaus clarified that readers do not have to have read the previous books to understand “A Texas Easter Blessing”, but those who have might notice recurring characters. The author also teased the release of the series’ fourth book at the end of November.

Overall, Obenhaus said she looks forward to meeting with readers to answer questions about being a writer and her book and have fun. She said she hopes readers feel encouraged after leaving the event and at the closure of any of her books.

“If I don’t close a book—okay, turn off my Kindle—and just have that contented sigh, well, then why did I read that book?” Obenhaus said.

The Story Peddler is a local and independently owned bookstore located at 538 W Main St., Bellville. Read the blurb for “A Texas Easter Blessing” below!
