Sheriff’s Report
TUESDAY, MAY 5
At approximately 8:00 a.m., deputy Blair was contacted by Sheriff Lindemann in reference to an estray that was located at 2000 Reese Lane (Columbus Livestock Auction Barn). Case cleared, information only.
At approximately 1:44 p.m., deputy Blair was advised of an Order of Emergency Apprehension and Detention that needed to be served in the 3100 block of FM 2764, Wharton, Tx. After further investigation, the patient was screened and later released with a safety plan by Texana. Case cleared, information only.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 6
At approximately 4:55 p.m., deputy Schoppe served a mental health warrant in the 1000 block of New World Drive, Columbus, Tx. The patient was admitted to a mental health facility in Houston, Texas under an emergency detention order and a report was completed. Case cleared.
THURSDAY, MAY 7
At approximately 12:03 a.m., deputy Smith conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation at the intersection of FM 950 and FM 2164 in Garwood, Tx. After further investigation, the driver, William Greer, 33, of Garwood, was arrested for Driving While License Invalid - Misdemeanor B and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm - Felony 2. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 5:17 p.m., deputy Lopez received a mental health warrant to be served on a subject in the city of Weimar. The mental health warrant was served and the subject was admitted to a psychiatric facility for treatment.
At approximately 7:00 p.m., deputy Smith was dispatched to the 3000 block of Tinkler Street in Rock Island in reference to an animal call. He obtained information to generate a report. The case is active.
At approximately 8:00 p.m., deputy Smith conducted a traffic stop on Highway 90 A at CR 255 in Rock Island. After further investigation, the driver, Kenneth Tyler, 72, of Halletsville, was arrested for DWLI. The case was cleared by adult arrest.
FRIDAY, MAY 8
At approximately 9:29 a.m., deputy Lopez transported a patient from Texana to a women’s shelter that provides drug rehabilitation services. The patient was released to the facility staff without incident.
At approximately 4:46 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to 1325 Warschak Schuette Road, New Ulm, in reference to an automated Iphone crash alert. Case cleared, property returned to owner.
At approximately 9:38 p.m., deputy Navarro was dispatched to 1369 Old Altair Road, Eagle Lake, in reference to an assault on a family member. After further investigation, Devan Parker, 22, of Eagle Lake, was arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Injury Family Member. The case was cleared by adult arrest.
SATURDAY, MAY 9
At approximately 12:06 a.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to the 4300 block of US HWY 90, Columbus, in reference to an unwanted subject. After further investigation, White, Taylor-Aaron Oquinn, 40, of Schulenburg was arrested for Criminal Trespass - Class B Misdemeanor.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to the Dollar General store at 1409 Hwy 90A, Sheridan, in reference to theft.
At approximately 7:23 p.m., deputy Navarro was dispatched to 1147 Alleyton Road, Columbus, in reference to a civil dispute. After further investigation, a report was generated for information purposes.
SUNDAY, MAY 10
At approximately 8:00 a.m., deputy Machac responded to Glueck Road in reference to an abandoned vehicle.
At approximately 10:59 p.m., deputy Navarro conducted a traffic stop near 2200 block of FM 102 and Fussell Road, Alleyton, due to a vehicle bearing an Arizona license plate BTA980 swerving into his lane of traffic. After further investigation, Mister Hernandez, 26, of Phoenix, Arizona, was taken into custody for out-of-county warrants. Case cleared by adult arrest.
MONDAY, MAY 11
At approximately 9:34 a.m., deputy Lopez conducted a welfare check on an inmate that was incarcerated in jail. It was determined that the inmate was in crisis. The inmate was released from CCSO custody and was later transported to a psychiatric facility for treatment.
At approximately 9:12 a.m., deputy Avalos was dispatched to the 1100 block of Lutonsky Road in reference to a welfare check. After further investigation, the subject was located deceased and an inquest was conducted. Case pending autopsy.
At approximately 9:55 a.m., deputy Gorman was dispatched to the 200 block of Center Street, Alleyton, in reference to a civil matter. After further investigation, it was determined an assault had taken place and Erin Wicks, 21, of Alleyton, was arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Injury - Family Member - Class A Misdemeanor. Case cleared by adult arrest.
TUESDAY, MAY 12
At approximately 10:13 a.m., deputy Blaha and deputy Avalos were running stationary traffic on State Highway 71 EB near Schobel Road when they observed a red in color Kia Forte driving in the left hand lane not passing vehicles. Deputy Avalos pulled out to control a traffic stop on the Red in color Kia Forte. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for an out of county warrant and possession of marijuana.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 13
At approximately 8:35 a.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to Columbus City Hall in reference to an elderly woman experiencing an altered mental status. The patient was later transported to a hospital to be evaluated and to address her untreated medical issues.
At approximatley 11:28 p.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to the area of US Highway 90 A near the Sandy Creek store in reference to a hit and run. Upon further investigation, Cass, Daniel David, 51, of Sheridan, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or more - 3rd degree felony, and Duty on Striking Fixed Structure/Highway Landscape >=$ 200 - Class B Misdemeanor.
FRIDAY, MAY 15
At approximately 12:42 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to the jail in reference to an inmate experiencing a mental health crisis. The inmate was evaluated by Texana and was later transported to a psychiatric facility for treatment. A jail detainer was placed on the inmate. The psychiatric facility will contact CCSO when the inmate is ready to be discharged from the facility.
At approximately 8:00 a.m., deputy Mican met with a complainant in reference to a possible theft. Complainant reported they had bought a Modular Home from Country Living Homes and they did not receive all of the accessories that they had purchased during the sale. Information was taken. The case is pending further investigation.
At approximately 4:16 p.m., deputy Chapa was dispatched to a reported theft in the 5300 block of US Hwy 90 A, Eagle Lake. Enough information was gathered to generate this report. Case active.
SATURDAY, MAY 16
At approximately 6:24 a.m., deputy Chapa was dispatched to the 1000 block of FM 3013, Eagle Lake, in reference to a stolen vehicle. Enough information was gathered to generate a report. Case active pending further investigation.
At approximately 2:36 p.m., deputy Chapa was dispatched to the Sheriff’s Office located at 2215 Walnut Street, in reference to a theft. After further investigation, it was determined that this call was a burglary. Enough information was gathered to generate this report. Case active.
At approximately 3:56 p.m., deputy Schoppe was dispatched to the 600 block of Townsend Street, Garwood, in reference to a disturbance. An arrest was made for assault family violence and a report was completed.
SUNDAY, MAY 17
At approximately 10:16 a.m., deputy Avalos was dispatched to a public service and then responded to the 1100 block of Alleyton Road, Alleyton. Information was gathered in regards to a minor structure fire that occurred earlier on this date. Case active pending further investigation.
At approximately 8:38 p.m., deputy Schoppe was dispatched to the 1000 block of Rockin R Lane, Alleyton, in reference to a disturbance. A report was completed.
At approximately 9:44 p.m., deputy Johnson was dispatched to the 1200 block of Lakeside Drive, Eagle Lake, in reference to a welfare concern call. After an investigation a report was taken and the subject was transported to Rice Medical Center. Case for information only.
MONDAY, MAY 18
At approximately 8:00 a.m., deputy Mican met with a complainant at the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a theft. Complainant advised she had bought a modular home from a local business, the complainant did not receive all items that were included in the sale price. Case pending.
At approximately 1:53 p.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to Rice Medical Center in reference to a mental transport. The patient was later admitted to a psychiatric facility for treatment.
TUESDAY, MAY 19
At approximately 4:09 a.m., deputy Blair observed Oakland Volunteer Fire Department being dispatched to the 1000 block of Caroleta Ranch Road, Weimar, Tx, in reference to a structure fire. Case pending fire report.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 20
At approximately 8:00 p.m., deputy Smith was dispatched to the 1000 block of Old Mcdonald Lane in Glidden in reference to an unwanted subject. On arrival, he met with the complainant and obtained information to conduct an investigation. After further investigation, Michael Nichols, 43, of Glidden, was arrested for assault. Case cleared by adult arrest.
THURSDAY, MAY 21
At approximately 12:48 p.m., deputy Leihardt arrived at 1032 Old McDonald Lane, Columbus, in reference to a violation of a criminal trespass warning. After further investigation, Michael Alan Nichols, was arrested for violating a criminal trespass warning. Case closed by adult arrest.
At approximately 8:00 a.m., deputy Mican was contacted by a complainant stating his client bought mobile homes from a company in the 1000 block of Mentz Road. He said the homes were never delivered to his clients. Case pending further investigation.
At approximately 3:00 p.m., deputy Machac was dispatched to the 3800 block of FM 949 in reference to fraud.
At approximately 4:48 p.m., deputy Chapa was dispatched to the 2200 block of US-90 E, Rock Island, in reference to property damage. On arrival, enough information was gathered to generate this report. Case active.
FRIDAY, MAY 22
At approximately 12:02 a.m., deputy Johnson was dispatched to the 4400 block of Hwy 90 in Alleyton in reference to an assault. After an investigation a report was taken. Case still active.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., deputy Gorman while patrolling the Old Hwy 90, near Columbus, observed a large pile of house siding and roofing material in the ditch. After further investigation, a report was taken for illegal dumping. Case inactive unless suspect information is located.
SATURDAY, MAY 23
At approximately 9:16 a.m., deputy Leihardt observed an abandoned vehicle parked in the roadway in the 1100 block of Shaws Bend Road. The vehicle was determined to be abandoned, a hazard to other motorists and was removed by Bob’s Towing. Case closed.
SUNDAY, MAY 24
At approximately 7:13 p.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to the 3000 block of Tinkler Street, Rock Island, in reference to a civil standby. After further investigation, Tommy Allen Endsley, 35, of Rock Island, was arrested for Assault of Public Servant - 3rd degree felony and Driving While License Invalid w/ Previous Convictions - Class B Misdemeanor. Case cleared by arrest.
At approximately 9:59 p.m., deputy Navarro was dispatched to 110 Shult Drive, Columbus, in reference to an animal bite that occurred within the 1100 block of State Highway 71, Columbus, Tx. After further investigation, information was gathered and a follow-up will be conducted. Case pending.
MONDAY, MAY 25
At approximately 6:13 a.m., deputy Avalos was dispatched to an active pursuit occurring EB on IH-10. Deputies located the fleeing vehicle and used spikes to make the vehicle come to a complete stop. Schulenburg PD shortly after placed one subject in custody. Deputies assisted on scene until no longer needed.
At approximately 7:20 a.m., deputy Chapa was dispatched to the 1000 block of Nelson Lane, Cat Spring, in reference to a burglary. Enough information was gathered to generate this report. Case active.
At approximately 4:45 p.m., deputy Leihardt was dispatched to 705 Brazos Street in Glidden in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, a criminal trespass warning was issued to a male subject for a residence inside the county. Case closed.
TUESDAY, MAY 26
At approximately 11:26 a.m., deputy Gorman was dispatched to IH-10 EB near Hattermann Lane, Borden, in reference to a vehicle fire. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case information only.
At approximately 12:04 a.m., deputy Schoppe was dispatched to the 400 block of 8th Street, Eagle Lake, in reference to a shooting. He assisted Eagle Lake Police Department with their investigation and a report was completed.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 27
At approximately 8:42 a.m., deputy Lopez was dispatched to 1140 Warschak Road, New Ulm, in reference to an animal call.
At approximately 12:17 p.m., deputy Blaha conducted a traffic stop on Kansteiner Road on a Silver Dodge Ram Truck. After making contact with the driver, Byron Smith, 32, of New Ulm, had an active warrant. Smith proceeded to drive off after being advised to exit the vehicle for the warrant. Report taken. Case cleared.
At approximately 2:08 p.m., deputy Leihardt while patrolling Milam Street in Columbus observed a red motorcycle traveling North that was not displaying a license plate. After further investigation, the motorcycle was impounded for operating on a public roadway without current registration, no financial responsibility, and a suspended drivers license.
At approximately 12:13 p.m., deputy Leihardt was dispatched to 5211 Main Street (Splashway Waterpark) in Sheridan in reference to an employee coming in contact with a bat. The employee was not injured by the bat and as a precautionary measure the bat was sent off for testing.
At approximately 5:53 p.m., deputy Navarro was dispatched to Columbus Community Hospital in reference to a mental health transport. The patient was transported and the case was cleared by transport.
At approximately 9:56 p.m., deputy Melendez was dispatched to IH-10 WB at the intersection of Hwy 71 S to assist DPS troopers on a felony stop. Deputies assisted in taking two suspects into custody with troopers without incident.
THURSDAY, MAY 28
At approximately 3:06 a.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to US Hwy 90 near the TA in Sealy in reference to a mental subject. After speaking with the complainant, enough information was gathered to generate a case report.
At approximately 12:20 p.m., deputy Lopez observed an abandoned vehicle parked in the 4000 block of Hwy 90 A, Eagle Lake, Tx.
At approximately 3:56 p.m., deputy Lopez was contacted by a concerned citizen in reference to a mental health warrant they filed on a family member of theirs. He made contact with the mental subject who voluntarily agreed to be evaluated by Texana. The subject was not in crisis and was released under a safety plan.
At approximately 11:24 a.m., deputy Avalos was dispatched to the 1700 block of A Braden Road in regards to an estray cow. After further investigation, deputies advised the reporting party that on 5/29/2026, deputies would return with a cowboy to come take possession of the cow. On 5/29/2026 deputies traveled back to the residence and took possession of the cow without incident. A cowboy transported the cow to the Columbus Livestock Auction Barn.
