Exploring the far-reaches of a scifi galaxy, weaving the magic of a fantasy realm, or unearthing the dusty secrets of the Lone Star State, Jayme Blaschke knows how to tell a story. The Weimar Public Library will host Blaschke on Friday, Sept. 25, at 10:00 a.m.
Jayme Blaschke is a versatile writer and media specialist with a passion for storytelling across genres. His work spans the imaginative landscapes of science fiction and fantasy as well as the rigorous exploration of Texas history, a pursuit bolstered by his professional career with Texas State University as Assistant Director of Media Relations.
Blaschke brings a diverse professional portfolio to the community, blending his career with Texas State University with a passion for both imaginative and historical writing. His work ranges from speculative fiction to deep dives into the heritage and rural traditions that define small-town Texas life.
Blend i ng the gap between academic research and the hardworking spirit of the Texas countryside, his upcoming visit to Weimar promises to explore the intersection of the state’s storied past and the limitless possibilities of the future.
Blaschke’s notable work centers on Texas history. In his Inside the Texas Chicken Ranch: The Definitive Account of the Best Little Whorehouse, he explores the myths that surround the La Grange Chicken Ranch, basing the work on extensive research, interviews and site visits in an effort to truth search and correct popular myths about its operations from 1910 to 1973.
In addit ion to his writing, Blaschke is an experienced interviewer. He has interviewed the easi ly recognized personalities of Hillary Clinton, George W. Bush, and Nolan Ryan.
Included in a long list of noteworthy writers interviewed by Blaschke one will find: Joe Haldeman, award-winning science fiction author; Lois McMaster Bujold, major fantasy writer; Vernon Vinge, influential mathematician and author; and Peter David, novelist and comic-book writer associated with The Incredible Hulk, Star Trek: the Next Generation, and Young Justice among others.
