Members of First Baptist Church of Columbus, First United Methodist Church of Columbus, and St. Paul Lutheran Church of Columbus has teamed up this year to start planning Share Your Christmas.
Share Your Christmas began in 1980 when a family in Colorado County had a terrible tragedy just before Christmas. A neighbor went to her congregation the First United Methodist Church and asked if they could help this family who were not members. In 1986, the tradition became known as Share Your Christmas.
As the need continued to grow, so did the help. In 2016, the First Baptist Church added their support, and in 2020, St. Paul Lutheran Church added their helping hand to this ministry. Christmas is a time of counting your blessings, joy, and hope, and for children it should be magical.
But even wi ll al l three churches working together, if it was not for the individuals who volunteer their time and money, and the organizations and businesses who continue to donate every year, we would not be able to offer the helping hands our community needs.
In 1980, one fami ly was helped. In 2025, 99 families were helped. Share Your Christmas is successful because of the hard work of all our volunteers and the generosity of our donors.
