Ladycats improve to 4-0 in district with back-to-back wins

The Weimar Ladycats volleyball team picked up back-to-back district wins this past week to improve to a 4-0 record in district play.

The Ladycats faced Danbury and Flatonia picking up wins in both matches to put themselves comfortably in first place in the district standings.

Vs. Danbury, W, 3-0, (25-11, 25-14, 25-18) In their first match the Ladycats faced Danbury and dominated all three sets to win the match in three straight sets. The Ladycats started the game strong and picked up a 2511 win in the first set.

That win in the first set gave the Ladycats a ton of confidence going into the second set, and they continued to control the match. They secured a 2514 win in the second set and put themselves one set win away from winning the match.

In the third set, the Ladycats won with a score of 25-18 to pick up their third district win of the year. After the win the Ladycats stayed on their home court and hosted Flatonia.

Vs. Flatonia, W, 3-2, (25-14, 23-25, 25-17, 24-26, 16-14) Against Flatonia, the Ladycats used all five sets to come away with their fourth district win of the year. They opened the match string winning the first set with a score of 2514 but then Flatonia came back and won the second set 25-23.

In the third set, the Ladycats picked up their second of three set victories with a score of 25-17. But Flatonia again responded with an overtime victory and a score of 26-24.

In the fifth set it is a race to 15 points, and the Ladycats came out strong trying to win that race. Both teams found early offense, and the score was close and forced the fifth set to go into overtime as well.

The Ladycats were able to score two points late in the set to help them win the match with a score of 16-14.

With a 4-0 record in district play the Ladycats now set their sights on their next opponnet which will be Louise on Friday, Oct. 2, at Weimar High School.
