The Rice Lady Raiders were handed their sixth district loss of the season after they fell to East Bernard on Tuesday, Sept. 29.

The Lady Raiders were defeated in three straight sets on their home court at Rice Consolidated High School.

East Bernard has been a strong team all season long scoring points at will. It was a great test for the Lady Raiders during their district schedule, and they met the challenge head on.

The first set saw the young and scrappy Lady Radiers score 14 points against one of the district’s best. They fell in the first set with a score of 25-14, and East Bernard took a 1-0 set lead.

In the second set things got a little rocky for the Lady Raiders and scored only seven points. East Bernard closed out the set with a final score of 25-7 and went into the third set with a full head of steam.

The Lady Raiders started to find their offensive rhythm again in the third set and put double digits back on the board. They scored 10 points in the third set, and East Bernard closed out the match with a 25-10 win over the Lady Raiders.

The Lady Raiders now sit with a 4-21 record on the season and a 1-6 record in district play. They are still working towards getting back into the win column in district play and will continue that work as they enter the second half of their district schedule.

The Lady Raiders will be back on the court on Thursday, Oct. 8, where they will face Hallettsville at Rice Consolidated High School.
