The Rice Raiders defeated Boling for their first district win of the 2026 season.

The Raiders won the game with a final score of 28-27 over Boling, and it was a full team effort to secure the win.

The Raiders opened the scoring with a three-yard rushing touchdown from quarterback Kyle Sims. The point after the touchdown was no good, so the Raiders held onto a 6-0 lead.

Bol ing came right back and scored twice to make the score 13-6, but the Raiders stuck to their game and found the endzone to take the lead. Sims completed a pass to Glenn Mills for a 12-yard touchdown.

Sims then found Ta’Rell Tarver on the two-point conversion to give the Raiders a 14-13 lead. Gabe Barrios then ripped off a 20-yard rushing touchdown run to put the Raiders up 21-13.

Bol ing then scored back- to- back touchdowns to take the lead back from the Raiders with a score of 27-21. On their last possession of the game, the Raiders knew they needed a touchdown if they were going to win this game.

Tarver came up big for the Raiders punching in the game winning touchdown from two yards out. The point after the touchdown was good, and the Raiders came away with a 28-27 win over Boling.

Sims led the Raiders, completing nine of his 18 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown. His top target Friday night was DJ Amos who caught six passes for 74 yards followed by Mills who caught two passes for 36 yards and a touchdown.

On the ground Tarver led the Raiders with 114 rushing yards and a touchdown. He was followed by Gabe Barrios who recorded 31 yards on the ground and scored a touchdown.

Then finally Sims carried the ball three times for the Raiders and scored a touchdown during Friday’s win.

On defense Ja’Jawaun Hicks led the Raiders with 12 tackles followed by Noah Salazar who recorded 11 tackles. Hicks also recorded two tackles for loss along with Barrios to cap off their win on Friday night.

The Raiders will be on the road next week as they travel to face Industrial on Friday, Oct. 9, at 7:30 p.m.
