WEIMAR — The Weimar City Council adopted a tax rate of $0.262445 per $100 of taxable value during its Sept. 29 regular meeting.
The council was scheduled to hold a public discussion regarding the proposed tax rate, but no members of the public spoke on the matter before the council approved the rate.
City officials said new taxable property within the city is expected to generate additional revenue.
“We’re actually making more revenue by $23,749 based on the net taxable value of new taxable property in the city,” City Manager David Mason said.
BUDGET FIGURES STILL BEING FINALIZED
The city did not yet have a final budget breakdown available at the meeting. Mason said additional purchases and adjustments still needed to be made before the figures were finalized.
“We’ll amend (the breakdown) again, as we don’t know what budget we’re going to finalize,” Mason said. “ We don’t exactly know how it’s going to finish yet. We still got some things to purchase tomorrow and then some adjustments after that.”
The updated budget and tax rate information is expected to be posted on the city’s website once the remaining figures are finalized.
