Local muralists Doreen Vail and Robin Adams painted the last book spines on the front of Nesbitt Memorial Library and Archives in Columbus, Wednesday, Oct. 7. The duo and library staff picked which books to include from a list of the 20 most checked out books across the nation.

The face of the library displays the spine’s of the following books, from left to right: “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” by C.S. Lewis, “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, “The Da Vinci Code” by Dan Brown, “Watership Down” by Richard Adams, “The Hobbit” by J. R. R. Tolkien, “The Bridges of Madison County” by Robert James Waller, “Charlotte’s Web” by E. B. White, “The Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats, “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak, “1984” by George Orwell, “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee, “War and Peace” by Leo Tolstoy, “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald and “Gone with the Wind” by Margaret Mitchell.
