The Sheridan Volunteer Fire Department celebrated a successful third annual Barbecue Cook-Off on Oct. 16-17 at Logan Park in Sheridan.

The two- day event brought barbecue teams and community members together for a weekend of competition, food and support for the local volunteer fire department.

Teams competed in three barbecue categories — brisket, ribs and chicken — with awards presented to the top finishers in each division.

Beer Daddy's BBQ— Dustin, Liam and Kayla Sralla—won grand champion, first place chicken, second place ribs and third place brisket during the third annual Sheridan Volunteer Fire Department Cook-Off fundraiser, Saturday, Oct. 17, at  Logan Park.

In the brisket competition, One Mo Cook earned first place, followed by Two Crackers Smoking in second and Beer Daddy’s BBQ in third.

In ribs, 7 7 Cookers took first place, while Beer Daddy’s BBQ finished second and Sticker Hill Ranch Cookers placed third.

Beer Daddy’s BBQ claimed first place in the chicken category, followed by LV Cookers in second. The third-place finisher was not identified in the results provided.

Meanwhile, Austin Purdy achieved best steak; Travis and Kyle Christen won best beans; and Courtney Christen captured best margarita.

Additional honors recognized the top-performing teams across the competition. Base Camp Cookers earned Reserve Champion honors, while Beer Daddy’s BBQ— Dustin, Liam and Kayla Sralla—claimed the overall Grand Champion title.

Saturday’s festivities also featured a 50/50 raffle, door prize raffle, toy gun raffle and cornhole and washer tournaments.

Local vendors joined the event, including Texanos Garwood, which served food, and Candy Rita’s, which offered fresh lemonade and adult beverages.

The cook-off concluded with an awards presentation at 6 p.m. Saturday, recognizing the participating teams and their efforts throughout the competition.
