Weimar Friends of the Library offers safety course as deer season approaches

With the start of deer season right around the corner, Friends of the Weimar Public Library is offering a second Hunter Safety Certification Class for those who were unable to attend the first course in July.

With the start of deer season right around the corner, Friends of the Weimar Public Library is offering a second Hunter Safety Certification Class for those who were unable to attend the first course in July.

The course is scheduled for two evening sessions. The sessions will be offered on Oct. 16 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Oct. 17 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Weimar Junior High cafeteria.

Any person born after Sept. 2, 1971 requires a certification card to hunt in Texas.

To enroll, hunters must register by accessing the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department website: https://tpwd. elementlms. com/course/ hunter- education- classroom- course-9342/ Hunters that are at least nine years old can obtain their hunter safety certification card after completion of the official online or classroom course through a certified instructor.

The course will be limited to 35 participants and will require a fee of $15 per person. Fees are payable at the door by cash or check made out to Lee Mueller. Sign in for the class will be at 4:15 p.m. Pizza will be served for dinner during the class.

When registering, participants will be required to set up an account with a password. The account and password will be necessary to print the hunter safety certificate at the completion of the class. Call or text 979-732-7405 for more information.
