Commissioners will consider solid waste restriction ordinance Friday

COLUMBUS—Colorado County Commissioners will meet Friday at 11:30 a.m. to consider an authorization to publish a notice of public hearing concerning a proposed ordinance restricting solid waste processing and disposal in Colorado County.

The agenda, filed for record at 11:12 Tuesday morning with the Colorado County Clerk, is the first step in the county adopting an ordinance which would restrict activities such as those proposed to be conducted by Altair Disposal Services/Clean Harbors at the hazardous waste disposal facility the company sought to build. 

It is unclear if the ordinance would have an impact on operations such as Inland Environmental & Remediation, currently the subject of a lawsuit in state district court in Austin relating to violations of the Texas Water Code. 

The Citizen was unable to reach county officials for comment on the agenda item prior to the Citizen’s noon deadline.
