Deadline set for fair youth pageants

COLUMBUS — The 45th annual Colorado County Fair is holding its children and youth pageants 6 p.m. Sept. 7 at Founders Hall.

The fair is at 1146 Crossroads Blvd., or Texas 71 North, at the Colorado County Fairgrounds.

Sponsored by the Colorado County Fair Association, the contests include Little Mister, Little Miss and Junior Miss.

Deadline for entry is 4:30 p.m. Sept. 1.

The Little Mister and Little Miss contest is for children 5, 6 or 7 years old.

The Junior Miss contest is for kids 8, 9 or 10 years of age by Sept. 1.

All contestants must live in Colorado County.

The entry fee is $25 and consists of an on-stage interview before a panel of out-of-county judges.

Western attire is recommended, but optional, with scoring being based on 90% on-stage personality and 10% western attire.

Winners must be available to ride the fair float in parades and participate in representing the association at fair events.

Little Miss and Little Mister contestants should check in no later than 5:30 p.m. and Junior Miss contestants at 5:45 p.m.

Participants can sign up at the Columbus Chamber of Commerce office, 425 Spring St., Suite 100, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
