Wellness Council offers resources

COLUMBUS – September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and the Wellness Council of Greater Colorado Valley is offering plenty of ways to help.

COLUMBUS — September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and the Wellness Council of Greater Colorado Valley is offering plenty of ways to help.

We had a full agenda at our monthly meeting with excellent presentations as we focused on the reality of suicide in our nation, our state and our local community.

Look for the 988 Crisis Hotline street banners and flyers across Colorado County; the council has made significant efforts to get the word out that there are resources available, such as the 988 Talk and Text Line, as well as Texana’s local hotline: 800- 633-5686.

What is so important for all of us to remember is that many suicides can be prevented if people will just talk about it openly, ask questions of anyone they have concerns about, and then listen compassionately to those individuals.

We still have some lapel pins, magnets for cars and flyers in English and Spanish that can be posted at workplaces, churches or other areas.

If you’d like to support our efforts simply call, text or shoot me an email and someone will deliver these to you.
