Jessie Turner Banks will retire May 31 after 43 years at Rice Independent School District. She is the mother of Janelle Banks and grandmother of Jaylon Banks, of Long Beach, California.

She started working at Banks

Rice Consolidated Independent School District in 1977.

“I feel honored to have given 43 years of service to this school,” said Banks.

“I loved working at Garwood Elementary with the children while they learned to use computers. Working with my principal and coworkers at Garwood Elementary was great! My hobbies are cooking and sewing. I plan to do more of both,” Banks said.

Banks was a true asset to Garwood Elementary, school officials said.

She was always willing to help teachers and students alike. Her days included being a technology paraprofessional, tutoring students and assisting teachers and staff whenever needed.

The Garwood and the Rice Consolidated family are inviting you to come and honor Mrs. Banks at her retirement celebration party Thursday, May 23, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Garwood school foyer.
