EAGLE LAKE — The city of Eagle Lake will see a change in council members following Saturday’s election, as an incumbent member failed to secure re-election and a former mayor was elected to a new term on the council.
Rene Cooper, formerly the city’s first black mayor, was elected to the council along with incumbents Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cooper, who were both re-elected.
Three spots were open on the Eagle Lake City Council. One was held by incumbent councilwoman Gaye Lynn Thomas, who failed to secure re-election.
The Eagle Lake City Council meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at city hall in downtown Eagle Lake.
