COLUMBUS – The public is invited to a grand opening and ribbon cutting for Leyco Real Estate at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2 hosted by the Columbus Chamber of Commerce.

The business’ new location is at 819 Walnut St.

The public will have the opportunity to tour the facility, enjoy refreshments, and extend best wishes to Kimberly and Currie and their team of realtors. To be entered into the drawing for door prizes, bring a school supply item(s) to the open house to donate to Cardinal Kids.

Cardinal Kids is the non-profit arm of Leyco Real Estate, whose mission is to ensure no child goes without the necessary school supplies and hygiene products to succeed in school, according to a release.

“All of us at the Chamber are thrilled for the folks at Leyco Real Estate, and we look forward to touring their new office building,” Chamber Events Director Janet Hollmann said.

Leyco Real Estate was established in 1978 by Crockett Leyendecker. His wife, Dorothy, joined Crockett in the business in 1980. Crockett was a sixth generation Colorado County rancher and a former county commissioner. Dorothy was a past member of the Columbus City Council.

In October 2017, the next generation of Leyendeckers took over in Crockett’s granddaughter, Kimberly Johnson, and great-niece, Currie Luedecke. Kimberly and Currie have assembled a team of 17 agents that have been voted Favorite Real Estate Company in Colorado County in 2021 and 2022. Leyco is the oldest Real Estate Company in Colorado County, celebrating 45 years in business.
