Rice played the host for last week's varsity soccer tournament that featured many familiar teams. The Raiders opened with a strong win against Hallettsville, but that would end up being their best game of the tourney as thet struggled to find another win in the games following, including their first game after the tournament. Below are the results from each of those games, however, the information on goal scorers and assisters is not available at this current time.
Vs Hallettsville, W, 4-0
The first game of Thursday went well for the Raiders. They had one of their best offensive performances of the season with their season-high in goals scored. They also secured their first win of the season as they dominated from top-to-bottom in a clean sheet victory.
Vs Yoakum, T, 0-0
The Raiders did not fare as well on the offensive end during their second game of the day against Yoakum. They competed well defensively and finished with yet another clean sheet. However, they failed to score a goal in this game, marking the fifth time this season Rice has been shut out.
Vs Hempstead, L, 4-1
Rice did not allow themselves to get shut out in Friday's game despite still dealing with some difficulties on offense. They definitely had difficulties on the defensive end as they allowed Hempstead to score four goals. It was the fifth time this season the Raiders have allowed a team to score four or more goals.
Vs Houston Harmony School of Discovery, L, 0-7
The Raiders had their toughest game of the tournament to close things out against the visiting Tigers from Houston. Not only were they shut out, but they allowed the highest number of goals by an opponent since the first week of January.
Vs Navasota, L, 12-0
Following the tournament, the Raiders hosted Navasota for a chance to redeem themselves after some unfortunate performances during the tourney. Those unfortunate circumstances continued for the Raiders as they conceded a season-high 12 goals to their opponents. They were not able to find the back of the net either as Navasota contiued to apply strong pressure to put the game out of reach.
