San Bernard Electric Co-op restores more powerlines

*This story has been updated to reflect current information*

The San Bernard Electric Cooperative has steadily been restoring more powerlines that have been affected or damaged by Category 1 Hurricane Beryl.

As of 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, San Bernard has just 332 meters of line without power from their initial task of over 16,000 meters. It is estimated that many of these remaining lines are individual meters that have had "service damage to or around their meter loop." San Bernard must wait on electricians to fix those issues before the linemen can complete their restoration.

SBEC linemen will return to the base office at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10. The 24-hour dispatch center is available for those who experience emergencies throughout the night.

San Bernard Electric has a outage map at the following link for those looking to see what areas are still affected.

Crews restore the lines by removing trees, fallen wire and broken equipment, and even rebuilding service lines if they have been damaged. These tasks can slow down restoration time, and San Bernard is asking members to be patient as they methodically restore the remaining meters of service line.
