Weimar VFW Auxiliary meets to discuss charity initiatives

Two-hundred seventy-five Valentines made by school kids were sent to hospitalized veterans last week.

The Weimar VFW Auxiliary to Post 5875 met for its regular meeting on Feb. 13 with eight members present. The meeting opened according to the Ritual by President Charlene Muras.

There are currently 16 annual members and 20 life members for a total of 36 members.

Jeanette Koenig reported that next week there will be flag etiquette programs, patriotic books and art contest applications presented at Weimar schools.

Two-hundred seventy-five Valentines made by school kids were sent to hospitalized veterans last week. One card was sent by Monica Stock.

A total of 171 nurse survival kits and 93 dozen cookies were delivered on Jan. 24 along with 19 hats, 20 gloves and 122 socks for veterans.

There will be a bake sale on April 13 at MG and Kasper’s in Weimar.

Jeanette Koenig reminded members to fly the U.S. Flag on Presidents Day Feb. 19.

The next meeting will be on March 12 at 6 p.m. at the Weimar VFW Hall kitchen.
