The Weimar Public Library, 1 Jackson Square, is now offering classes scheduled to begin on June 8 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The classes are sponsored by the Friends of the Weimar Public Library.

David McCall, scholastic chess coach, will return to the Weimar Public Library to offer free instruction in the game of chess.

According to a release, McCall has offered his services as an instructor for the past two years at both the library and at St. Michael School. The library said McCall welcomes old and young audiences alike.

McCall, a former educator and counselor, believes in the many benefits of chess, like improvement in memory, concentration, and problem-solving, according to a release.

The library said everyone can benefit from improved memory and concentration. This free program offers the opportunity to young and old participants to learn a new skill and grow mentally.
