The season for giving is here, and there are several food drives and community worship services planned throughout the county. Following is a list of some of the holiday activities planned. Bring your food items to Double G Realty, LLC for the Columbus food bank and enter to win! Double G Realty has teamed up with Corie Jane Creations to offer a beautiful gift basket and a $25 HEB gift card to one lucky winner. To enter to win, bring non-expired, nonperishable food items to the Double G Realty office, located at 1114 Milam Street in Columbus, now through Nov. 21. You’ll receive one entry for every item you donate. Drawing will be held Nov. 22.
The annual Thanksgiving fellowship service for the Eagle Lake area will be Sunday, Nov. 24 at Lissie United Methodist Church at 6 p.m. Rev. Stephen Spicer, pastor of Christ Episcopal Church of Eagle Lake, will be the guest speaker. Food and monetary donations will be accepted that evening for the Eagle Lake Food Pantry.
Faith Lutheran’s Meal
Faith Lutheran Church in Weimar will host the annual Meal of Thanksgiving Sunday, Nov. 17. There will be a special congregational meeting to approve a proposal for playground equipment and safety area immediately following the 10 am. Communion Service, and then on to the Fellowship Hall for the Thanksgiving meal. Members and friends of the congregation bring many of the traditional foods associated with Thanksgiving to share—turkey, ham, dressing, cranberry sauce, assorted casseroles and pumpkin, apple, and pecan pies, along with an assortment of other desserts. It is a wonderful time of fellowship, feasting on a host of good things, and giving thanks to God. The community is invited - please bring your favorite Thanksgiving-type food to share as a family of faith. Faith Lutheran is located at 615 South Eagle Street. Also, don’t forget to bring non-perishable food items and toys for the St. Nicholas Ministry—Colorado County to help needy children, their families and the elderly at Christmas. Boxes for those items are wrapped with Christmas paper and designated St. Nicholas Ministry are placed in the Church’s Worship Center and Fellowship Hall. Special marked envelopes for monetary gifts are also available. Make checks payable to Faith - St. Nicholas Fund.
