Deadline to run for local city offices Feb. 14

EVERY VOTE COUNTS

It’s not only Valentine’s week - it’s also deadline week. The deadline to file for candidacy in the upcoming May 2 city and school board elections is Friday, Feb. 14. Election Day is May 2.

City of Columbus

Council Places 3, 4 and 5 are up for election. The incumbents, Gary Swindle, Sandra Frnka and Chuck Rankin, have all filed for re-election.

The filing period opened Jan. 15 for City of Columbus elections, and the last day to file an application for a place on general election ballot is Friday, Feb. 14.

The last day for a write-in candidate to declare candidacy in general elections Tuesday, Feb. 18.

Last day for a candidate to withdraw their application is Feb. 21.

The drawing for order of names on the ballot is Feb. 24.

Last day to submit voter registration application in time to vote May 2 is Apr. 2.

Early voting period is Apr. 20 - 28.

Extended early voting hours will be available Apr. 21 and Apr. 27 from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Early voting hours other early voting days will be 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

City of Eagle Lake

The filing period opened Jan. 15 for City of Eagle Lake elections, and the last day to file an application for a place on general election ballot is Friday, Feb. 14.

Incumbents aldermen Eve Lucas and Anthony Johnson, and Mayor Mary Parr are up for re-election.

None of the incumbents had filed for re-election at press time.

Larry Contreras has filed for alderman.

The last day for a write-in candidate to declare candidacy in the general election is Tuesday, Feb. 18.

The last day for a candidate to withdraw their application is Feb. 21.

The drawing to determine the order of names on the ballot is Monday, Feb. 24.

The last day to submit voter registration application in time to vote in the May election is Thursday, Apr. 2.

Early voting period is Apr. 20 - 28.

Extended early voting hours will be Apr. 20 and Apr. 27 from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Early voting hours other early voting days are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

City of Weimar

The filing period opened Jan. 15 for City of Weimar elections, and the last day to file an application for a place on general election ballot is Friday, Feb. 14.

Positions up for re-election include: Mayor Milton Koller, Alderman Place No. 2 Ronell Wilson and Alderman Place No. 4 Kevin “Catfish” Janecka.

The last day for a write-in candidate to declare candidacy in the general election is Tuesday, Feb. 18.

The last day for a candidate to withdraw their application is Feb. 21.

The drawing to determine the order of names on the ballot is Monday, Feb. 24.

The last day to submit voter registration application in time to vote in the May election is Thursday, Apr. 2.
